The Kentucky History Education Conference has added sessions to its schedule.

This year’s conference will be at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort on Thursday, July 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) has lined up some of Kentucky’s premier historians to lead historical content sessions focused on this year’s topic, “Leadership and Legacy in History.”  Among others, presenters will include: Mel Hankla as George Rogers Clark; Robert Weise from Eastern Kentucky University and James Nicholson from the University of Kentucky. Georgetown College’s James Klotter will offer this year’s keynote speech, “Leadership and Courage in Kentucky History.”

Four periods during the day will each feature four concurrent sessions that offer information on primary source activities, classroom applications and instructional strategies are available and led by teacher peers.  The cost of the conference, which includes lunch, refreshments and teacher materials, is only $50 or $45 for KHS, Kentucky Association of Teachers of History and Kentucky Council for Social Studies members.
