The Kentucky Writing Project is offering New Voices, a workshop designed to help middle and high school teachers understand how to engage students in playwriting, July 13-15 at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Teacher consultants who have worked with Actors Theatre to engage students in playwriting will share classroom-tested strategies and materials that address speaking and listening and reading and writing standards. Participants will also learn a process for developing a 10-minute play and how to engage students in “the living newspaper,” which integrates research and content into a writing experience.

The workshop is especially appropriate for English/language arts and drama teachers, but all content area teachers are welcome. The program offers 18 hours of professional development credit.

The fee is $150. Call (502) 852-4544 to register or email lksatt01@louisville.edu for more information.
