In celebration of Financial Literacy Month in Kentucky, the Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is participating in Teach Children to Save Day on April 29. This is a national event developed by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation to teach children to identify goals and to save to reach those goals.

Kentucky Jump$tart will send volunteers to 33 2nd-grade classrooms on April 29 to share a lesson about saving. Each classroom will receive a copy of the book “Less than Zero,” and each child will receive a savings-related gift.

The coalition also has partnered with the Louisville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for an event for teachers April 28 at the bank’s office in Louisville. The event will feature dinner and a video conference with Federal Reserve economist Bill Emmons, who will speak about “The Demographics of Wealth.” Professional learning credit is available. The coalition will promote free events and activities for the public through social media throughout April. Follow Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition on Facebook for more information on upcoming events and programs.
