Applications are being accepted for the 2018 Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs June 24-July 14 at Transylvania University in Lexington. The program is open to students in grades 9-11, and participants can earn high school class credit and scholarships to Kentucky colleges and universities.
The Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs (GSE), which was established in 2013, brings teens from across the state into a three-week residential program and immerses them in an authentic entrepreneurial experience. Students learn more about the opportunities, benefits and pitfalls of taking a business concept from the idea phase to pitching it to potential investors.
The program brings educators, professionals, innovators, businesses and business leaders together to transition young people out of the classroom and into a real-world mindset. Entrepreneurs leave the program with not only the real world tools to start a business, but also a network of contacts from around the state that includes other students and business leaders.
The application deadline is Dec. 20. Visit the GSE website for more information.
