Regional Educational Laboratory Appalachia is teaming with REL Mid-Atlantic and REL Northwest to host a workshop on preparing students in rural schools for colleges and careers July 25 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

The perspectives of researchers, practitioners and students will be integrated into sessions throughout the day. Specific topics include dual enrollment, measuring postsecondary readiness, career and technical education and challenges rural students face in postsecondary transitions.

The keynote speaker, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education Executive Vice President Aaron Thompson, will discuss how his background in a rural Appalachia shaped his life and career trajectory. The program also will include a student panel.
