Teachers can explore the fundamental principles of science education and its parallels to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in two professional learning workshops Oct. 19-20 at the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative in Bowling Green.
“W.H.A.T. is Science? Implementing the NGSS in the Classroom” will be led by Sharon Delesbore, a dedicated science advocate and founder of Science Mama Enterprise. Delesbore will share practical approaches to the teaching and learning of science as it aligns to the NGSS that promote academic success, including targeted mini-lessons and formative assessments supporting conceptual understanding and scientific thinking.
A session for science teachers in grades K-6 and curriculum coordinators will be Oct. 19, with a follow-up session Jan. 18. A session for middle school and high school science teachers, curriculum coordinators and instructional supervisors will be Oct. 20, with a follow-up session Jan. 19.
