The KET Young Writers Contest gives students in grades K-8 the opportunity to ignite their imaginations through creative writing. The contest is designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on, active learning and empowers children to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills by writing their own stories.

There are three competitions: an illustrated story contest for grades K-3, a short story contest for grades 4-5 and a new poetry contest for grades 6-8. Illustrated stories must be mailed or delivered in person to KET, while short stories and poems must be typed and submitted online, with entry forms to be mailed or delivered separately. A parent or guardian must sign each student’s entry form, but teachers may submit the entries. Winners will be selected and prizes will be awarded at each grade level.

The deadline for all competitions is April 14. Click here for more information.
