Lynn T. Poe, the principal at Julius Marks Elementary School (Fayette County) has been recognized by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) as part of its 2016 Class of National Distinguished Principals during National Principals Month.

Poe has 13 years of experience as a principal and has spent the past three years at Julius Marks Elementary. She was described by her supervisor as someone with the ability to transfer vision into reality, such as reinstating science as a designated class at the request of parents after it had been eliminated by previous administration.

NAESP honors outstanding elementary- and middle-level administrators for setting high standards for instruction, student achievement, character and climate for the students, families, and staff in their learning communities. Principals chosen for the Class of National Distinguished Principals participated in the National Distinguished Principals Program Oct. 6-7 in Washington.
