There is a lot to celebrate in the Hickman County school district at all levels. It has been recognized as a Distinguished school district, which demonstrates that exceptional teaching, hard work and active engagement have paid off for students. During the past two years, the district has moved from Needs Improvement to Distinguished, giving teachers, staff, students and parents reasons to be proud. Continuous improvement and compelling instruction remain at the forefront of all conversations.

Hickman County’s focus on increased communication as well as the positive interaction with the community and emphasis on academic and career excellence has been vital to the district’s growth. Recent Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning (TELL) Kentucky Survey results indicate faculty and staff feel involved in the entire education process and supported by the administration. Parental and community support also are fundamental to the success of students.

The faculty and staff at Hickman County Elementary work hard every day to help students learn. Principles from The Leader in Me school model have been implemented at the middle school to enable students to become active leaders at school and in the community. Hickman County Middle School provides intentional and purposeful instruction to support each student’s learning.

Hickman County High School continues to be recognized as a School of Distinction/Progressing. For several years, Hickman County High has developed a tradition of cultivating students’ abilities to answer the challenges that they may face. Through the Falcon Academy, students earn college credit via dual credit courses free of charge thanks to community support, local foundations and the Hickman County Board of Education. Building relationships with students by providing support and encouragement to achieve academic and career success is what truly makes Hickman County great.
