Graduation, student readiness and achievement continue to improve in final year of Unbridled Learning accountability

The number of students graduating from high school and considered college/career-ready continues to increase, and more students are scoring at higher levels in most grades and subjects since the state launched its assessment and accountability system five years ago, according to data released by the Kentucky Department of Education.

The Kentucky Department of Education and Valvoline™ have selected 24 outstanding Kentucky educators as recipients of the 2017 Valvoline Teacher Achievement Awards. These teachers qualify to compete for the 2017 Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award, which will be announced next month.

Students score higher on Advanced Placement tests

Kentucky students who took rigorous Advanced Placement tests in May scored higher according to data released from the College Board. In fact, the number of students scoring at the top two levels is up between 4 and 5 percent from last year.
