STEM conference open to middle school girls, parents


TechSavvy Kentucky, a conference designed to inspire and inform middle school girls about STEM careers led by women who excel in those fields, will be held May 16 at Kentucky State University in Frankfort.

The conference is open to girls in grades 6-9 and their parents and is designed to expose them to STEM fields and to inform families about STEM education and careers and to show girls the value and satisfaction in these fast-growing fields.

Participants will hear from women working in STEM fields for organizations such as Toyota USA, Alltech, Northup Grumman, Kentucky State University and the University of Kentucky. Workshops for parents include sessions on cyber security, funding college and how to help their daughters.
