McConnell Center scholars program open to social studies teachers

The University of Louisville McConnell Center Civics Education Program is accepting applications for the 2018-2019 cohort of its Teacher Scholars Program lecture and seminar series.

The theme of this year’s program is “Tocqueville’s America? Politics and Culture in the 21st Century.” Participants will focus on the lessons of Alexis de Tocqueville’s master work, “Democracy in America,” to better understand the nation in the 21st century.

Teachers can earn more than 30 hours of professional learning credit through the series and can participate in one weekend intellectual retreat.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, with priority consideration given to applications submitted by Aug. 15. Visit the McConnell Center’s website for more information.
