Educators who demonstrate their expertise in teaching students to be critical and responsible consumers and creators of media can be recognized as PBS Certified Media Literacy Educators.
PBS’ certification allows educators to showcase their media literacy mastery and to lead virtual and in-person professional learning events facilitated by PBS and local PBS stations.
The certification process begins with the creation of a portfolio demonstrating expertise in teaching media literacy. Portfolios will be assessed by teams from PBS or San Francisco PBS affiliate KQED-TV, and educators will receive results and feedback within two weeks of submission. KQED Teach also offers online courses on media literacy and media making that will allow educators to develop their skills.
