Grants tied to Appalachian Kentucky available

The Steele-Reese Foundation is accepting applications for grant proposals from organizations benefiting Appalachian Kentucky in the areas of elementary, secondary and early childhood education and public libraries providing programs for children from early childhood through high school.

Grants of $5,000 to $50,000 per year are available for use within a 54-county service area defined by the Appalachian Regional Commission. In recent years, the foundation has funded supplemental in-school and afterschool programs, teaching materials, library upgrades and additional staffing for summer enrichment projects.

The application deadline is March 1. Visit the foundation’s website for more information.
