Presidential math, science teaching award nominations open

Nominations are open for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science teaching.

Anyone may nominate exceptional mathematics or science teachers – including computer science teachers – who are currently teaching grades 7-12. Awards are given to teachers from each of the 50 states who have developed and implemented a high-quality instructional program that is informed by content knowledge and enhances student learning.

The nomination deadline is March 1; the application deadline for nominated teachers is May 1. Teachers in grades 7-12 are eligible to apply during the 2018-2019 program year. Visit the PAEMST website for more information, to nominate a teacher or to apply directly.
