KGA seeking teachers for National Geographic Summer Institute


The Kentucky Geographic Alliance (KGA) at Western Kentucky University is seeking two middle school educators to attend the annual National Geographic Summer Institute June 24-28 in Washington.

Participants must fulfill the following requirements to be selected:

  • Both educators must be from the same school;
  • Both educators must teach in grades 6-8;
  • One teacher must be a science and/or social studies teacher and the other must be a library, media or technology specialist; and
  • Both teachers must agree to a one-year commitment with National Geographic, which will consist of completing NatGeo educator certification, completing a project with the school and submitting deliverables and assisting with professional development based on this project in 2018.

Lodging and meals will be provided at the institute; attendees also will receive a stipend from National Geographic for their one-year commitment.
