Fellowship offers training on teaching Dharmic religions

The Uberoi Foundation for Religious Studies is accepting applications for the Uberoi Foundation Fellowship for Teaching Dharmic Traditions, which will offer training at Bellarmine University in Louisville July 9-13.

The Uberoi Foundation seeks to raise awareness of the four major Dharmic religions – Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism – in an effort to promote understanding, communication, tolerance and peace. Uberoi is expanding its teacher training to satellite programs around the country in conjunction with the College of Education and Allied Studies at Bridgewater State University, the Center for Indic Studies at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and the Institute for Advanced Sciences. Educators who complete the satellite program are eligible to participate in the international program based in New Delhi, India.

“Perspective on Teaching India for the K-12 Classroom” will include site visits to places of worship around Louisville. Educators will receive a $500 stipend and classroom materials.

The application deadline is June 8. Email Holly Jones for more information.
