Student poster contest designed to increase radon awareness

The Kentucky Department for Public Health is conducting the Kentucky Radon Poster Contest for students ages 9-14.

Students may submit original artwork for a chance to win cash prizes. The goal of the contest is to increase radon awareness and promote home testing. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can accumulate inside homes and at elevated levels increase the risk of developing lung cancer.

Winners will be recognized at the state level and will have the opportunity to be recognized nationally. Winning posters will be reproduced and distributed statewide and nationally to promote radon awareness.

The entry deadline is Nov. 1. Visit the Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ website for more information.
