Enroll your school in the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee


Elementary and middle schools can now enroll in the 2022 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Enrollment is open through Dec. 31 and cost $175 per school. Schools can choose to participate with in-person, online and hybrid options.

Schools that enroll in the 2022 Bee program receive the following benefits:

  • Exclusive online access to the teachers-only section of spellingbee.com;
  • Official study lists for students, organized by grade level and level of difficulty;
  • Official pronouncer guides for use in conducting classroom and school spelling bees;
  • The Great Words, Great Works reading list with all source books, organized by reading level;
  • Words of the Champions: the 4,000-word study guide for school champions;
  • Access to the Online Testing Platform, a tool that allows educators to administer a school spelling bee program via online tests;
  • A one-year subscription to Britannica Online for Kids to award to a participant;
  • Supplemental word meaning materials for classroom and school levels;
  • Customizable certificates for participants and school champion.

Throughout the fall, enrolled schools will host their own spelling bees and send school champions off to compete in district, county and national qualifier spelling bees. In May, spellers who qualified for the national tournament compete in the Scripps Cup in the Washington, D.C., area.
