The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is offering a guidance document to districts that are including instruction about the Holocaust and other cases of genocide in middle school and high school curricula.
The Kentucky General Assembly enacted legislation in 2018 that requires every public middle school and high school curriculum to include instructions about the Holocaust and other cases of genocide.
“Required Instruction of the Holocaust and Other Cases of Genocide: Guidance for Curriculum Implementation” includes information on connections to the Kentucky Academic Standards for Social Studies and the Kentucky Academic Standards for Reading and Writing. Optional resources for curriculum development also are provided.
Email the KDE social studies team for more information.
