Cindy Gatsos, a business education teacher at Southern Middle School (Fayette County), has been named the Junior Achievement (JA) of the Bluegrass Teacher of the Year.

Gatsos, who has welcomed Junior Achievement in her classroom for eight years, was nominated by volunteers Elizabeth Hobbs of United Bank and Peyton Tierney of Northwestern Mutual, who cited her passion for teaching and connection with students.

“I’ve been thrilled to work with dedicated members of our community who take their valuable time to invest in our students – our future! I have tremendous respect for the JA volunteers and absolutely love having them in my classroom each year,” Gatsos said.

Davis was honored April 11 at JA’s Adopt-A-School and Community Partners Breakfast Reception in Lexington.
