Leslie schools recognized for entrepreneurial education

The Leslie County schools have been recognized for its work in entrepreneurial education by Hazard Community and Technical College and the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education (EntreEd).

The district was recognized with an award for leadership in entrepreneurial education at an event held by the Hazard-Perry County Chamber of Commerce.

EntreEd was funded by an Appalachian Regional Commission grant in 2016 to work with community colleges to incorporate entrepreneurial activities and lessons in K-12 classrooms in coal-impacted counties in five states – Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Leslie County was recognized as the only district in the region in which every school is designated an “America’s Entrepreneurial School” after completing at least one entrepreneurial lesson for every student in the building.
