Marcus Dobbs, director of transportation in the Fayette County schools, has been named the 2019 J.T. Coomer Memorial Director of the Year by the Student Transportation Association of Kentucky (STAK).
Dobbs was recognized July 10 during STAK’s conference in Louisville.
“For many of our students, transportation employees are the first faces of district personnel that a student sees,” Dobbs said. “Our interactions can have a tremendous impact on student achievement. We should strive to be warm and welcoming to each and every student. We should never forget that we are transporting the most precious cargo.”
A native of Atlanta, Dobbs has spent 22 years with the Fayette County schools, beginning as a school bus driver in 1996. He became transportation director in 2015.
