Anna Sullinger, a family and consumer sciences (FCS) teacher at Beaumont Middle School (Fayette County), will receive the 2019 Award of Merit from the National Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (NATFACS).
Sullinger was Kentucky’s state nominee in July and then chosen as this year’s national award recipient. She will be recognized Dec. 6 at the ACTE CareerTech Vision conference in Anaheim, Calif.
“Students in FCS learn hands-on skills that they can use today and in the future – finance, food preparation, child/human development, sustainability, nutrition and textile knowledge,” Sullinger said.
Sullinger has been teaching in Fayette County schools since January 2015. She previously taught for more than eight years at the Grant County Career and Technology Center.
