The 6th Annual System of Care Academy is scheduled for June 18-20 at the Marriott Griffin Gate in Lexington. The event brings together approximately 500 participants from across the system of care: primary care providers, clinicians, prevention specialists, educators, child care providers, Family Resource and Youth Services Centers staff, juvenile justice staff, community-based services staff, public health staff, families, youth and interested community members.

After a screening of the film “Paper Tigers,” the Kentucky Department of Education’s Damien Sweeney will be facilitating a conversation with several experts from Kentucky agencies, including the Department of Juvenile Justice, Medicaid and Family Youth Service Centers.

The Behavior Institute will take place June 13-14 at the Louisville Convention Center. The keynote speaker will be Isaiah Pickens, a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in consulting, counseling and educational services for families, teens, and young adults. He also is the assistant director of the Service Systems Program at the UCLA-Duke National Center for Child Traumatic Stress Network.

Pickens conducts research focused on juvenile-justice involved youth who have experienced trauma and provides trauma-informed training and consultation to several child-serving institutions, including schools, foster care and juvenile justice agencies.
