The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center is hosting its 2021 Virtual Summer Institute for educators teaching grades 7-12.
Through the institute, teachers will begin an investigation into the history of the Holocaust and become familiar with the content area, literary-based teaching methods and resources to teach Holocaust history to their students. The course will include primary source readings, use of historical documents, multimedia presentations, guest speakers and will draw interdisciplinary connections that align with state and national standards.
The institute is July 12-16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT. Participants also will attend a virtual evening lecture at 6 p.m. CT on July 13.
Applications for the institute are due June 7. Tuition is $300 and full or partial financial assistance for tuition will be available for teachers with demonstrated need.
