Nominations are open for the inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Adult and Youth Leadership Awards, presented by the Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission to recognize adult and youth leaders in Kentucky who embody King’s life and work.

Two youth and two adult recipients will be honored at the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration Jan. 4 in Frankfort. The nomination deadline is Dec. 8.

Entries also are being accepted for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. essay, artwork and poetry contests, which are open to students. This year’s theme is, “Reflecting On Our Past in Order to Build a Brighter Future.” The entry deadline for all three contests is Nov. 30.
