High school students across Kentucky who are interested in education as a career spent several days in the Texas heat at the Educators Rising Conference June 22-25 in Dallas.
During the four days, the students and their leaders attended sessions that will help prepare them for their future careers in education. They also competed in events where they demonstrated their talents and skills that will assist them when they enter their chosen field of study.
The following students were recognized during the closing ceremony for their achievements during the conference:
- Educators Rising Moment: Craig Hensley, Whitley County High School, semifinalist;
- Impromptu Speaking: Jacob Brooks, Whitley County High School, semifinalist;
- Job Interview: Gabby Conley, Powell County High School, third place;
- Job Interview: Grace Nobler, Ballard High School (Jefferson County), semifinalist;
- Lesson Planning and Delivery – Arts: Mal Harris, Whitley County High School, semifinalist;
- Lesson Planning and Delivery – CTE: Olivia Greer, Lafayette High School (Fayette County), semifinalist; and
- Lesson Planning and Delivery – Humanities: November Offutt, Waggener High School (Jefferson County), semifinalist.
River Braden from Whitley County High School served during the 2018-2019 school year as the Educators Rising national student chief of staff and served as an emcee during the conference in addition to assisting the planning of the activities.
