The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) and the Knowledge Center on Deafness are sponsoring an art contest for all deaf and hard of hearing K-12 students in Kentucky.

Students can design a visual image or write poetry that will be connected to a fiberglass horse, similar to the ones done at DeaFestival 2002 and 2010. The theme is “Communication: Every Word Matters.” Six students – two each from the elementary, middle and high school levels – will paint their winning art on the horse.

The horse will represent deaf and hard of hearing students throughout the state and be shown at the 2012 National Association of the Deaf (NAD) conference and DeaFestival 2012 in Louisville July 3-7, 2012. For more details, click here.
