The Kentucky Writing Project has several summer offerings for professional learning.

The first is June 26-27 in Louisville, and will feature Kentucky Department of Education’s Carol Franks., who will engage participants in a deeper look at Professional Growth and Effectiveness System (PGES) resources to support student growth goal-setting.

She will lead participants through the process of identifying enduring skills, concepts or processes to support the development of Student Growth Goals, digging into grade-level standards to identify what proficiency means for students in that grade, and considering what sources of evidence are available or need to be created. Twelve hours of PD credit are available.

Also, the Kentucky Writing Project has expanded the number of technology academies it is offering to meet the demand for these popular workshops. Participants learn to use technology in order to advance students’ literacy skills.
