The Partnership Institute for Math and Science Education Reform (PIMSER) is offering short courses for elementary mathematics teachers Dec. 3 and Dec. 15 in Lexington designed to strengthen understanding of the Kentucky Core Academic Standards for mathematics.

“Using the Number Line” will allow teachers to make connections to the Professional Growth and Effectiveness System (PGES) framework for teaching, examine and confront misconceptions, learn to promote conceptual understanding and talk with peers about the implications of best practice highly effective teaching.

Courses will be held at the University of Kentucky/Lexmark Center for Innovation in Math and Science Education, 1737 Russell Cave Road, on this schedule:

  • Grades K-2: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 3
  • Grades 3-5: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 15
