GeoScience Adventures will host two educational workshops for geoscience teachers in grades K-12 and other geoscience enthusiasts in July near Shell, Wyoming.

The workshops are conducted as a series of three-day short courses that explore the geological and paleontological record of northern Wyoming. Participants will learn geological and paleontological concepts from professional scientists.

The workshops:

  • “Introduction to Paleontology,” July 5-7: Emphasizes what paleontologists do in the field from the first discovery of a fossil until it becomes an exhibit in a museum.
  • “Amazing Geology,” July 8-10: Illustrates evidence of ancient volcanic eruptions in the Bighorn Mountains and shows how changing climates and shifting geological plates shaped Wyoming.

The registration fee is $250; the registration deadline is June 20. Professional development credit is available. Click here for more information or to register.
