Karen Ansberry and Emily Morgan, authors of the Picture-Perfect Science lesson series, will hold two workshops on how to use scientific inquiry, the 5 E’s instructional model and reading comprehension strategies and how to train other teachers to do the same Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Ashland.

“Picture-Perfect Science: Using Picture Books to Guide Inquiry” will consist of a teacher workshop for teachers in grades K-5 and a workshop for trainers.

The teacher workshop will be held Sept. 29-30 and will teach educators how to use picture books to integrate elementary science and the English/language arts standards and will allow them to participate in model lessons that connect science and reading. The cost is $299, which includes three Picture-Perfect Science lesson books.

The train-the-trainer workshop will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 1 and will instruct leaders in how to facilitate their own Picture-Perfect Science workshops in their schools or districts. The cost is $799, which includes a training pack containing necessary resources.

Both workshops will be held at the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation. The registration deadline is Aug. 24. Click here, then click on the event to register, or call Kim Stilwell at (816) 877-4957 for more information.
