Alicia Henning of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Fayette County) has been named Drama Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Theatre Association. Henning was honored last week during the Kentucky Theatre Association’s high school festival in Bowling Green.

Henning received a bachelor’s degree in theater from Western Kentucky University and worked professionally in theater around the country before becoming a teacher. She has taught drama and English at Dunbar for 13 of her 14 years in teaching.

“Theater was the most important thing in my life while I was in high school, and it is important to me to provide a supportive and creative environment for students who share a love of theater,” she said.
