The Kentucky Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education has released the “CTE Basics: A Professional Learning Library,” a SharePoint site to support career advising, the implementation of the Kentucky Academic Standards for Career Studies, and the Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

The SharePoint site is designed to bridge the knowledge gap between general education and career and technical education (CTE). These short, targeted sessions provide a basic overview of CTE needed by teachers and counselors as they engage students in conversations, career exploration, and development of their ILP.

The site is organized by three domains:

  • CTE Basics addresses the components and language of career advising;
  • Elementary Career Studies addresses the vision and implementation of career studies in the elementary classroom; and
  • Middle School Career Studies addresses the vision and implementation of career studies in the middle school classroom.
