The University of Kentucky (UK) Center on Trauma and Children is offering free Skills for Psychological Recovery (SPR) training.

SPR is an evidence-informed intervention that aims to help survivors gain skills to manage distress and cope with post-disaster stress. It is not a direct form of counseling, but it is a secondary-prevention model focused on helping in a variety of post-trauma situations.

The training is open to education stakeholders, including school personnel, family resource and youth service workers, and community members such as social service employees, health care workers or anyone seeking skills to offer support to their community after a disaster.

The three-part training will take place via Zoom from noon to 3 p.m. ET on Feb. 14, Feb. 28 and March 14.
