The U.S. Census Bureau is inviting K-12 educators to become an ambassador for its Statistics in Schools (SIS) program, a free education program with activities created by teachers, for teachers, that leverage census data to create engaging and easily downloadable classroom activities for students.

The SIS Teacher Ambassador Program is a collaborative effort by the Census Bureau and educators designed to empower educators to use real-life data in the classroom to increase statistical literacy in students at a young age. SIS ambassadors will be able to learn about and have a voice in the development of new products and interact with SIS staff and Census Bureau subject matter experts to bring current data into the classroom.

Educators who are interested should email CLMSO.SISAmbassador@census.gov with:

  • A paragraph explaining why you want to be an ambassador;
  • The number of years you have been teaching;
  • Information about the school where you are/will be teaching; and
  • If you use SIS materials in your classroom, tell us how.

Recruitment for this program is ongoing.
