The Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC) will host a water quality and conservation workshop May 31 at Pulaski County High School and Liberty Nature Center in Somerset.

The workshop is open to teachers from all grade levels and content areas. Educators will conduct hands-on activities, including macroinvertebrate sampling. Special focus will be given to the new Kentucky Science Assessment System and how doing a water project in the classroom can strengthen students science and engineering practices for their through-course tasks while giving them content knowledge that will also be assessed in the new state summative assessments.

KEEC has received grant money to distribute to teachers across the state in order for them to conduct water projects within their schools.

The registration deadline is May 17. Email kghs@ky.gov for more information on the workshop.
