The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is accepting applications for its Civil Engineering Scholarship and Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship programs.

The Civil Engineering Scholarship Program awards 10 to 20 new scholarships each year to qualifying students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville or Western Kentucky University. Students also may take pre-engineering courses at other state college and universities with approved programs before transferring to UK, UofL or WKU. Scholarships can be worth more than $51,000.

The Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program awards five to 10 new scholarships each year to qualifying students interested in pursuing an associate degree in civil engineering technology at Big Sandy Community and Technical College in Prestonsburg or Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington. Recipients will receive $3,000 per semester.

Scholarship recipients are expected to work for KYTC after graduation one year for every year they receive a stipend. The application deadline is Feb. 1. Visit the KYTC website for more information and links to applications.
