A T-shirt design contest for children ages 12 and under can help fight hunger, as every entry will trigger a $20 donation from the Spartan Kids Foundation to contest sponsor Blessings in a Backpack.

To participate, children can print out the form available on the Blessings in a Backpack website and draw their favorite thing about school. Parents are asked to fill out the form, scan it and submit it on the website. The winning design will be used on a new Blessings in a Backpack T-shirt.

The contest is already underway and continues through Oct. 15.

Blessings in a Backpack will select 10 finalists and display them on its Facebook page, where social media followers will vote for their favorite Oct. 19-23.

The winning design will be announced the week of Oct. 26. The winner will get a $50 Amazon gift card, a Blessings in a Backpack prize package including a T-shirt with their design and a free Spartan Kids Race code. The winner’s name will appear on all the printed T-shirts and the winning child’s teacher will get a $1,000 Amazon gift card for their classroom wish list.

Blessings in a Backpack is a nonprofit which for 15 years has provided food on the weekends for elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry. This year it expects to provide weekend meals to more than 87,000 children across the country.

Through this national contest and associated fundraiser, Blessings in a Backpack aims to raise $25,000. Since the Spartan Kids Foundation has committed to donating $20 per contest entry, raising $25,00o would require at least 1,250 entries.
