The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is offering surplus maps to classrooms across the state to use as an educational resource in its Maps to Schools program.

The cabinet’s 12 highway districts will begin distributing surplus copies of the 2015 Official Highway Map to educators and students over the next month. The maps can be used for many educational purposes, including geography, math and social studies classes and as library reference materials.

More than 100,000 surplus maps have been distributed to classrooms since the inception of the Maps to Schools program in 2004.

To receive surplus maps, teachers should submit their name, the name and address of their school, the county in which their school is located and the number of boxes of maps requested (maps are available in boxes of 200) to Courtney LeFlore by April 15. Cabinet employees will deliver the maps to schools.
