Keith Lindsay, a 5th-grade social studies and language arts teacher at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts at Bluegrass, is among 10 Platypus Award winners profiled in the fall 2016 issue of Mental Floss magazine.

Nearly 250 nominations were received for the nationwide awards, which celebrate teachers’ innovation and creativity. Mental Floss also helped each winner raise funds for a project, and Lindsey received more than $1,000 to buy five Chromebooks for research work in his classroom.

Lindsey is in his 17th year as a teacher and has taught for seven years at SCAPA. Before moving to Lexington, he worked as an actor in Los Angeles. Now he tries to inspire students with first-person presentations, costumes and props.
