The Green County School District is a small rural district with a tradition of excellence from academics to athletics. The district is proud to be a part of the Race to the Top Kid-FRIENDly (Kids Focused, Responsible, Imaginative, Engaged and Determined to Learn) Grant through the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative consortium. The grant focuses on developing students as leaders through “The Leader in Me” program, personalized learning and data review training for highly effective professional learning communities.

The Kentucky Department of Education has identified the Green County Primary School (preschool – 2nd grade) as a Kentucky System of Intervention (KSI) /Response to Intervention (RtI) Model School. Our primary school, Green County Intermediate (3rd grade – 5th grade) and Green County Middle School (6th grade – 8th grade) have all implemented “The Leader in Me” program and are nurturing students to become leaders while taking personal responsibility for their future. Realizing the need to meet the goal of college- and career-readiness for all, the district as a whole is moving from traditional classrooms to developing model classrooms with a focus on personalized learning environments customized for each student.

Green County High School is beginning work with AdvanceKentucky to expand access to college-level work through Advanced Placement courses, while continuing the work with dual credit and online college credit opportunities. The district strives to meet the needs of its non-traditional learners through the Success Academy virtual school which blends online learning with career opportunities through the on-campus Green County Area Technology Center (ATC). The Green County ATC provides outstanding opportunities in career and technical education through valuable partnerships with the district’s schools as well as local area industry.

The district’s hope is that every employee of the Green County School District will be MAD about education, seeking to truly “Make A Difference” in the lives of students every day and teach students to be creative in all they do.
