Tuesday, March 12, is the initial administration for the state-required ACT. We have been informed, however, that many Kentucky teachers are planning to demonstrate in Frankfort.

Because of the importance of the ACT for students and the fact that many Kentucky students will take the exam only once, and the fact that students need to know whether they should be preparing to take this very important examination tomorrow, we are asking superintendents to decide now whether they will keep the district’s testing date as March 12 or utilize the remaining test date for 11th-graders of April 24. Whatever the decision, we are asking superintendents to communicate the decision to students and to KDE now.

Closed on Initial Test Date
If the district does not test on March 12, ACT test coordinators will keep students’ answer documents, test administration forms and test administration manuals for the make-up test date, April 24. All remaining standard time materials (i.e. tests) should be packaged and returned on the scheduled pickup day, March 13.

ACT test coordinators would then place an order on March 13 for standard time test materials for makeup testing on April 24.

Students who receive accommodations can test through March 26.

Note: Do not return and reorder accommodations materials on March 13. Schools participating in ACT online testing have five additional days to test: March 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21.

Confirm Test Day
Please confirm by e-mailing kdecommunications@education.ky.gov if the district is testing tomorrow March 12 or April 24 and the decision has been communicated to students.
