The Kentucky Historical Society is prepared to help teachers and students participate in National History Day in Kentucky (NHDKy) for 2021. The theme for this year’s projects and contests is “Communication in History: The Key to Understanding.”

Students in grades 4-12 can investigate historical topics and create projects to showcase their findings, such as exhibits, websites, documkentuckentaries, performances and papers.

The Kentucky Historical Society offers free virtual classroom programs to help teachers and students on NHDKy projects. Full details on National History Day in Kentucky projects and contests are available on the Kentucky Historical Society website.

This year’s project contests will be virtual. Kentucky is divided into six contest regions, in which competitive presentations will be held during March. The statewide Kentucky contest will take place April 22-24. Details on the national competition will be available later.
