The National Assessment Governing Board has released the fifth National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in the Arts.

The NAEP, also known as the Nation’s Report Card, examines students’ performance in the arts – among other subjects – and closely measures students’ visual arts and music knowledge and skills. It also explores how access to resources and opportunities in arts education may correlate to student achievement.

As part of this release, the Arts Education Partnership (AEP), in conjunction with its partner organizations, released the Nation’s Arts Report Card Toolkit, which includes key information related to arts assessment, potential action steps, the Every Student Succeeds Act and frequently asked questions concerning the 2016 NAEP.

Also, be sure to check out the “Maximizing the Nation’s Arts Report Card” entry on the Education Commission of the States’ Ed Note blog, which explores highlights and key findings from the 2016 NAEP.
