National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which is observed in October, celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices.
During the summer months, the Summer Food Service Program, which is administered by the Kentucky Department of Education, will provide meals at no cost from June through August to children 18 and under who are from low-income families. The department partners with school districts and community organizations statewide to offer nutritious meals, recreational fun and educational activities while school is out of session.

Kentucky Commissioner of Education Jason E. Glass announced Dec. 29 the hiring of Brian Perry as director of government relations for the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). Perry will begin his role with the department on Jan. 18.
