The Kentucky Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Team is partnering with four different educational cooperatives to provide professional learning to schools and districts to improve aspects of their practical living/consumer sciences Program Review.

The intended audience includes health and physical education teachers, Family Resources and Youth Services Center and school nutrition staff and administrators.

All events will occur from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the following:

  • June 24 – Ashland
  • July 21 – Hazard
  • July 24 – LaGrange
  • July 31 – Bowling Green

Participants will be able to:

  • Create a healthy school nutrition environment that includes healthy fundraisers and classroom parties at school; consistent messages to students about healthy eating; and opportunities students have to learn about healthy eating.
  • Determine the connections between the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program and the Practical Living/Career Studies Program Review.
  • Establish, implement and evaluate the high quality physical education and staff wellness components of a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program.
