Elementary teachers can apply by March 31 for the free year-long graduate-level Kentucky Reading Project (KRP) course for 2021-2022.

The course focuses on research-based literacy instruction for teachers of kindergarten through 5th grade. Topics covered include:

  • Close reading;
  • Informational/nonfiction texts;
  • Early literacy;
  • Formative and summative assessments;
  • Digital literacy;
  • Diversity;
  • Strategies for differentiating instruction; and
  • Disciplinary literacy

The KRP will be presented at sites across the state by literacy faculty from Kentucky’s eight public universities. One day of training will come from the National Center for Families Learning.

Participants will receive a stipend and professional resources. On completion of the course in May 2022, they will receive three hours of graduate credit.
