Fifth Third Bank is launching Finance Academy, a new financial and entrepreneurship education program that offers free interactive online financial education for high school students throughout its 10-state footprint, which includes Kentucky.

Two web-based courses will be offered as part of Finance Academy:

  • The financial literacy course is a series of 30- to 45-minute financial education modules covering topics such as investing basics and common financial accounts. Finance Academy also will immerse students in real-life financial scenarios and documentation, such as filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  • The venture course will guide students through the creation of a business plan – from idea generation and taking a business to market, to sustainable business practices for growth.

Students will be assessed before, during and after the courses to ensure financial proficiency. Teachers will receive real-time student score reports, supplemental offline lesson plans, detailed standards alignment guides, answer keys for all assessments and discussion guides. The program also offers a component in which employee volunteers will visit schools and classrooms to lead continued education experiences.
